Yoga is for Everyone.

Yoga Sutra 1.1

Atha yogānuśāsanam

Now, the teachings of yoga.

Yoga is for everyone.

It is a universal practice which promotes unity and love.

The volumes of ancient yogic texts which have been freely and bountifully handed down to us over thousands of years prescribe the practice of yoga as a way to alleviate suffering in the world, as a way to live more balanced and meaningful lives, and as a way to remember our essential nature.

All people.

Anywhere.

Any skin color.

Any body shape.

Any geographical region of the world.

There are many revered sources which speak to the state of yoga. One prominent text is the Yoga Sutras, where author Patanjali has organized and compiled profound yogic philosophy into an easy-to-digest guidebook that all spiritual seekers are able to follow and weave into their daily lives in doable ways.

The four chapters (padas) and 196 verses (sutras) begin with Yoga Sutra 1.1, where Sage Patanjali is welcoming all seekers into the practice of yoga and saying, "You have finally arrived. Be aware of where you are now. You are about to start on a wonderful path of Yoga. The teachings of yoga begin now."

For you.

For me.

For everyone.

We have devoted our lives to exploring and sharing the practice of yoga with you, our community, in hopes that your curiosity is ignited, in hopes that you feel supported on your spiritual journey, and in hopes that in some way your life becomes a little easier and more peaceful along the way.

Hari Om Tat Sat.

With love and devotion,

Co-Owners of Black Cat Yoga

Black Cat Yoga began with a simple idea: bring people together through yoga, music, and community. What started with a single class has grown into a heart-centered gathering place for Kirtan, sound baths, and shared practice. Our intention has always been to support people in discovering their own path, and the joy of walking it together.
