YOGA IS FREEDOM.

Updated: Feb 18, 2020

🌿 Alignment as a broad concept in yoga is complicated, as there is no one anatomical positioning that serves every body in a way that is beneficial. Our bodies are remarkably extraordinary and unique to each individual, which makes forcing bodies into "cookie cutter" yoga postures an exercise in frustration and futility. And often this kind of frustration, unfortunately, is a big reason why many people give up on their yoga practice.

WHERE THERE IS YOGA, THERE IS PROSPERITY, SUCCESS, FREEDOM AND BLISS.

🌿 Not only do our bones vary considerably in length and shape from person to person; the joints where the bones connect together in the body are uniquely placed and positioned. This is important to understand because it significantly influences what the most beneficial alignment may be for you and it will impact the way you transition from posture to posture. It has nothing to do with being "good" or "bad" at yoga...or anything else, for that matter.

YOGA IS A WAY TO FREEDOM.

🌿 Shorter arm bones may make it more challenging to position the hands on the floor when stepping forward or back. Whether the hip joints are positioned more forward or further back on the pelvis will affect the degree of rotation of the leg bones. The anatomical structure of the ankle/foot bones will affect the depth of flexion in that joint and contribute to how you experience postures like utkatasana (chair pose).

YOGA ALLOWS YOU TO FIND A NEW KIND OF FREEDOM THAT YOU MAY NOT HAVE KNOWN EVEN EXISTED.

🌿 At Black Cat Yoga, we work closely with our students to learn their own bodies so that they can modify and adjust the postures and transitions in a way that leaves them feeling at ease in their bodies and more confident in their practice. It takes some time and patience. But with a consistent and steady commitment to yourself, you will find a greater sense of well-being and balance in your body, in your practice, and ultimately in your life.

YOGA IS FREEDOM.
