New Studen Special

(One-time offer for new students only.)

Black Cat Yoga is an intimate yoga shala nestled in the heart of Jacksonville's oldest and most charming neighborhood: Historic Riverside/Avondale. We are grateful to count ourselves among the many local small businesses that line these streets who are helping to create the kinds of neighborhoods we all desire to live, play, and work in.

Guided by the Bhakti tradition of yoga, which is often called "Yoga of the Heart," each of our practices blend together the elements of hatha vinyasa yoga (the union of body, breath, and movement) and the qualities of bhakti yoga (gratitude, open-heartedness, humility, compassion, and devotion).

It is our intention to create and remain a cozy neighborhood yoga studio which nurtures a sense of community; an open space that is heart-centered, welcoming, and inclusive to all; a yoga home where all students can practice together in any of our weekly classes and offerings in a harmonious, safe, and supportive environment.

Come practice with us.

And embody the Soul of Yoga.

Black Cat Yoga is a love story, a story of two people who are soul and life partners committed to sharing yoga and building a community of love and compassion. We count ourselves among the many whose lives who have been awakened and transformed through a devoted yoga practice, and it is our intention to help you find your own pathway that leads you to your heartspace and returns you to a life of love and grace.

We wouldn't be able to write this love story without you. If you are reading these words, then you are a co-author to this beautiful memoir. Whether you have taken one class, multiple classes, attended an event, liked or shared our posts, connected with us through e-mail or social media, or stopped by to say hello, you have contributed to the growth, vitality, and nourishment of what we are co-creating here at Black Cat Yoga.

And we thank you for that.

As our good friend, Neale Donald Walsch, says: "All manifestations of our physical world around us are collaborative. They are the products of the joint creation of every human being at some level or another...and the divine."

We have blended together two of our most loved practices,

Mantra and Sound Healing, to create powerful meditation experiences.

The recitation of mantras lies at the heart of a yoga practice and has deep roots in yoga tradition. This unique Black Cat Yoga signature experience begins with a group mantra practice, using our voices to create powerful vibrations within the body and mind; and then reclining and relaxing into an effortless harmonic sound experience: the yoga of deep listening. Finding stillness and receiving varying frequencies, overtones, and vibrations from quartz crystal bowls, metal Himalayan bowls, gongs, chimes, body harp, Native American flutes, vocals, drums, and more.

There is a container that is created when a group of people engage in these spiritual practices of mantra and deep listening together. Silent vows are made by everyone in this “container” to be open and to honor the energy in the space for everyone. In this way, the individual experience becomes a collective journey of supporting, upliftment, and unification for all.

who gives back to our community

The practice of Seva is an expression of compassion for others and a genuine desire to uplift those around you through selfless service. We are honored to partner with Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jacksonville, Florida, in an effort to assist their organization with raising funds so that they may continue to fulfill their mission of providing a safe, loving and forever home to endangered big cats and to educate the public about their plight in the wild and in captivity.  Several times a year, Black Cat Yoga Studio guides a special 60-minute accessible yoga experience called "Yoga with the Tigers" on location at Catty Shack Ranch and donates all the proceeds to their organization.  Sign up for our e-mails to be notified of future dates and times for these extraordinary experiences.

Service is the
greatest form
of spiritual practice.
