All of our classes are taught following an intelligent sequencing model and infused with time-honored yoga philosophy. We believe that a strong yoga practice reveals itself through the intelligence of the work and intuitive grace, not the biggest or bendiest poses. This established teaching methodology not only ensures the physical body is prepared to safely move and transition through a thoughtfully planned asana (physical) practice, but it enriches all our students with a holistic yoga experience of movement and meditation. All students in our studio are encouraged to practice at their own pace and modifications and variations are always offered, which makes each class a unique opportunity for beginners and longtime practitioners to practice as a community.

Yin yoga is based on the Taoist concept of yin and yang, opposite and complementary principles in nature. The yin aspect of the practice focuses on the stillness, the unmoving and unseen, the less flexible and more taut connective tissues in the body.  A passive and contemplative practice, Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes. With a focus on stillness, yin influences the subtle energy in the body and targets mostly the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, and lower spine. Longer holds work to unwind and release the deeper, less flexible, and taut connective tissues surrounding layers of muscle, making it an effective complement to a more dynamic Yang practice.

Restorative yoga is a relaxing, soothing, and healing yoga experience. This very gentle yoga practice will encourage your entire body to melt into a state of deep relaxation through the use of longer-held passive postures which are fully supported by blankets, bolsters, straps, sand bags, and blocks. The aim of restorative yoga is to promote rest and ease, removing as much sensation as possible by supporting the body in such a way that there is no tension or muscle energy. The more subtle nature of this type of practice fosters a greater sense of harmony and balance physically, energetically, and mentally. The entire class takes place on the floor and is an ideal class for someone who may be recovering from illness or have injuries that need an even higher level of mindfulness and extra gentle movement.
