WHO ARE WE?

WHAT IS RESTORATIVE YOGA?

"Taking time out each day to relax and renew is essential to living well."

~ Judith Hanson Lasater

Restorative Yoga is a deeply rejuvenating, soothing, and healing yoga experience. This very gentle floor-based practice helps to alleviate the physical and mental effects of everyday stress and brings ease to common ailments such as headaches, backaches, anxiety, and insomnia.  The spacious nature of restorative yoga is ideal for someone who may be experiencing grief, high levels of stress, recovering from illness, or have injuries that need an even higher level of mindfulness and extra gentle movement.

Longer-held passive postures (10-15 minutes each) with the body fully supported by blankets, bolsters, straps, sand bags, and foam blocks are key foundational elements in a Restorative Yoga practice. Breath awareness (Pranayama), learning to cultivate an inward turn of the senses (Pratyahara), and exploring the deeper nonphysical layers of the body (Koshas) are some of the more subtle elements of the practice that foster prolonged inner states of Shantih: peace of body, mind, and spirit.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

This program will be primarily focused on educating teachers who are interested in sharing the deeply rejuvenating practice of Restorative Yoga; however, it is also highly relevant for body-workers, therapists, caregivers, and experienced yogis seeking to understand restorative practices and benefits on a deeper level.  Through lecture, experiential learning, feedback, and group discussion, you will leave feeling confident and prepared to lead a thoughtful group restorative practice or to work in a more intimate setting with students privately one-on-one.  We will delve deep into the nuances of how to guide a restorative practice that is grounding and nourishing physically, mentally, and emotionally.  Learn how to create and offer a restorative experience that leaves your students feeling refreshed and relaxed and wanting to come back again and again.  We are limiting the enrollment to 10 participants in an effort to offer the highest level of personalized attention to each of our attendees.  We do recommend that you have some prior yoga experience in order to receive the most benefit and understanding from this content-rich interactive workshop.
